During your first consultation, your osteopath will begin by taking a detailed case history, asking questions about your general health, medical background, and the nature of your current complaint. This is followed by a thorough physical assessment, which may involve performing certain movements to help your therapist better understand the underlying causes of your symptoms. Once enough information has been gathered to form a working diagnosis — and provided no red flags (serious medical concerns) are identified — treatment will begin. During follow-up sessions, your osteopath will review your progress since the last appointment and carry out a shorter reassessment to monitor improvements and any changes in your symptoms.
