Hay Fever Injection
The hay fever injection, called Kenalog contains triamcinolone acetonide, which belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids (steroids), and are used for a wide variety of conditions to reduce inflammation commonly used in the treatment of hay fever or allergic rhinitis.
A Kenalog injection does not cure hay fever. It just temporarily suppresses the immune system enough to take away the symptoms in most people who need it.
The steroid is injected into the buttock – known as an IntraMuscular (IM) injection – depositing a low dose directly into the muscle. They slowly leak into the bloodstream over the course of three weeks.
